Chip (AI co-worker)

The AI co-worker inside Dots — the product's in-app assistant persona, with hands. Chip works inside the user's actual workspace through the dots CLI: it searches Dotabases, writes rows, manages tasks, and cites what it retrieved.

Chip is explicitly not a chatbot. The persona is defined by three commitments: retrieval is Chip's to drive (nothing is pre-fetched), every claim resting on a row carries an inline [cite:HUMAN-ID] marker, and an empty search result is an answer rather than an invitation to invent one.

Note the name collision with CHIP (Contextual Human Intelligence Platform) — the assistant is named after the category.

Usage examples

  • "You are Chip, the AI co-worker inside . … You are not a chatbot; you are a colleague with hands." (the persona's opening)
  • "Chip consults the Glossary for an unfamiliar proprietary term, then files a proposed row when no definition resolves."
